Autumn Exhibition

My work over the last six years has been strongly influenced by my life in Singapore and travels throughout Southeast Asia and China. The warm tropical climate and the vibrant cultures of Southeast Asia are translated onto canvas in an ethereal, dreamlike manner. Memories of lush, green Balinese rice fields, jewel tones of Indian saris, and golden Buddhist temples are painted with a bold, luminous quality. Paintings such as, ‘Koi at Sunset’ honor traditional Chinese painting, which I studied and practiced with master Chinese painter, my “laoshi” (teacher) Tan Khim Ser.

After returning to Norway last year, a distinct shift in mood and climate are reflected in paintings inspired by glaciers and ice caves. The cold, quiet depth of these mysterious caverns, inspire internal reflection while fissures and natural passages create an opening, leading us out into the light again.
